If other parts of England lay claim to be the heart of the country then Runnymede is undoubtedly its soul. It was at Runnymede Meadows beside the Thames, on 15 June 1215, that King John met his barons to discuss their grievances and, in order to prevent a civil war, agreed to seal a Great Charter (Magna Carta). In its principles and subsequent interpretations this was to have a profound and significant influence on rights and freedoms, not only in England, but across much of the civilised world.

The Runnymede Hotel & Spa is 4 Star luxury, privately owned hotel, located 5 miles from Windsor and 7 miles from Heathrow, on the banks of the River Thames. It is ideally situated for exploring the tourist and historic attractions nearby, including Windsor Castle, Thorpe Park, Ascot Races and Legoland. Extensive conference and banqueting facilities are available and the hotel is licensed for Civil Weddings. Both business and leisure guests can enjoy the carefully maintained gardens and relax at the health and fitness spa before a meal at either of the hotel’s two fantastic restaurants, Leftbank and Charlie Bell’s.
